Experience
I began my teaching career after working several years in accounting. I taught business education/personal finance for five years, history/economics for two years, and math for seven years. Most of my experience teaching has been at the high school level, but I also enjoy teaching middle school. I have experience teaching in an alternative school setting, as well. This will be my second year teaching in Desoto County. I absolutely love it and look forward to another great year!
Bio
I was born and reared in Clarksdale, Mississippi and educated in the public school system. I graduated from Clarksdale High School and attended Jackson State University on a full academic scholarship. I was a member of The JSU Honors Division, which is currently known as The Honors College. I served in the US Army Reserve as a 91P, X-ray technician and worked for the Army-Air Force Exchange Service as a field accountant (internal auditor).
I became a certified teacher through the Alternate Route by attending the Teach Mississippi Institute at Delta State University, where I received a Master of Arts in Teaching. I've taught for a total of fourteen years in the Mississippi Delta, across four counties, which include Coahoma, Bolivar, Tallahatchie, and Tunica counties.
I strive to be an effective teacher who helps students grow and enjoy learning. I am an educator who desires to spark and awaken dreams, and provide the tools to forge a brighter path for my students. I am excited to be a part of Desoto County Schools and the Swamp family!! Again, I look forward to a great and prosperous year!!
